Founders & story · from PayNearMe’s own dossier

Founded in 2009 as Kwedit to enable cash payments for underbanked consumers, PayNearMe evolved into Handle Financial and then into a full omnichannel bill payment and disbursements platform. The company progressively moved upmarket, adding ACH, card, and mobile wallet payment methods to its original cash network, targeting regulated industries like lending, gaming, insurance, and property management. By 2024-2025, PayNearMe had established itself as a payments infrastructure provider serving ~16,000 US businesses, with particular depth in consumer lending verticals, and began integrating open banking capabilities via a Trustly partnership.
