The story

Founded in 2019 as a Y Combinator contractor-payment compliance tool, Deel rapidly expanded into Employer of Record services, enabling companies to hire full employees in 150+ countries without local entities. By 2023 it had become a full-suite Global HR platform (HRIS, IT, Benefits, Mobility), effectively repositioning from payroll-as-compliance to workforce-as-a-service OS. The embedded finance angle deepened with Deel Card, Deel Advance (EWA), multi-currency treasury infrastructure, and a 2026 push into stablecoin payouts—Deel now operates its own treasury management system across 710 bank accounts in 120+ subsidiaries. In 2025 it launched Deel Embedded, a white-label API for platforms to resell global payroll and compliance under their own brand.
