The story

KBC Bank NV is a Belgian universal bank and insurance group headquartered in Brussels with a history spanning decades. Rather than pivoting from one business model to another, KBC has progressively layered embedded finance and open banking capabilities onto its traditional retail and commercial banking franchise. From 2016 onward it built a developer portal exposing PSD2-compliant AIS, PIS and COF APIs — positioning itself as both an open banking data provider and an embedded finance platform through the KBC Partner Hub. The bank now offers embedded instalment loans, a payment initiation button, multi-currency accounts and treasury APIs alongside its classical deposit, lending and insurance products.
