The story

Cin7 evolved from Danny Ing's New Zealand web design business Datum Connect into a cloud-based inventory management platform in 2012. After Rubicon Technology Partners took a controlling stake, Cin7 consolidated the SMB inventory market by acquiring DEAR Systems (rebranded Cin7 Core) and Orderhive. In 2023-2024 Cin7 layered embedded finance — Cin7 Pay (Stripe-powered payments) and Cin7 Capital (Stripe Capital lending) — turning an inventory ERP into a monetization surface for financial primitives.
