The story

SevenRooms started in 2011 as a reservation and guest-management CRM for restaurants, hotels and nightlife — competing with OpenTable and Resy but on a data/CRM axis rather than a discovery axis. Over time it layered in marketing automation, online ordering, event management, and Voice AI, positioning itself as the operations + marketing OS for hospitality operators. Payments were always partner-fronted (Stripe, FreedomPay, Cybersource, Adyen, SaferPay, Network International) rather than an in-house merchant of record. DoorDash's 2025 acquisition folds SevenRooms into DoorDash's Commerce Platform, extending DoorDash beyond delivery into dine-in CRM and reservation management.
