The story

Founded 2011 in Utah as a communications tool for dental practices, Weave graduated Y Combinator in 2014 and steadily expanded into optometry, veterinary, and medical verticals. In 2019 it launched Weave Payments, layering embedded payments (Text to Pay, terminals, card-on-file) on top of its communication suite — a decisive move from pure SaaS into vertical fintech. Post-IPO (2021), the company has doubled down on embedded finance (Stripe Capital via Stripe Connect, BNPL, Payment Plans) and AI (Google Gemini-powered AI Receptionist) to become the AI-powered patient experience + payments OS for SMB healthcare.
