The story
Seguros Unimed began in 1989 as the pension arm of the Unimed medical-cooperative system and expanded into a full-line insurer covering health, dental, life, pension, and P&C for 6M+ insured. In 2019 it moved deeper into finance with InvestCoop Asset Management, positioning itself as the financial arm of the Unimed system. Its current phase — Stormia hub, Sinapse open-innovation program, and AI 'digital twins' work — is oriented around inserting technology and startup partnerships into insurance operations rather than launching standalone embedded-finance products.
