The story

PracticePanther began in 2012 as a cloud-based practice management tool for solo and small law firms. After Alpine Investors acquired it in 2018 it accelerated moves into embedded finance: acquiring Headnote in 2020 to launch its own payments processor PantherPayments (replacing/paralleling its LawPay partnership), then adding native trust and operating accounting (PantherAccounting Plus) and Plaid bank connectivity in 2024–2025. The strategic evolution is classic vertical-SaaS-to-fintech: from workflow software to owning the money movement, trust-accounting compliance, and bookkeeping layer for law firms.
