The story

Piermont Bank launched in 2019 as a de novo New York commercial bank targeting the underserved gap between money-center banks and community banks. Within 18 months it launched a BaaS platform in 2021 and quickly established itself as one of the go-to sponsor banks for fintechs — followed by BancFi, a fintech-facing credit platform. As other sponsor banks (Evolve, Blue Ridge, Cross River) came under regulatory scrutiny post-2023, Piermont has positioned itself as a compliance-forward, hybrid digital-plus-human BaaS partner while continuing to grow traditional fund banking, sponsor finance, and CRE lending.
