Founded as a pure-play payment gateway, Mollie grew into one of Europe's most popular PSPs for SMEs by emphasising simplicity and breadth of local payment methods. In 2022 it expanded into financial services with Mollie Capital (revenue-based financing) and later launched Business Accounts with debit cards, evolving from a single-product PSP toward a full financial platform. The December 2025 agreement to acquire GoCardless marks a step-change, adding bank-payment rails (direct debit, Pay by Bank) and significantly expanding addressable enterprise customers.
