“Can a single cloud-native platform become the financial infrastructure OS for Africa's 400M+ unbanked by digitizing every layer of community finance — savings groups, SACCOs, and micro-lenders — and routing institutional capital through them?”
Founded in 2014 to digitize manual record-keeping for rural Ugandan savings groups and SACCOs, Ensibuuko evolved from a basic advisory microfinance platform into a full-stack community finance infrastructure company. The company expanded from Uganda into Tanzania, Malawi, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, and Ghana, deepening its stack from savings-group software to include a core banking system (MOBIS), mobile money payment rails, and an embedded lending marketplace (Rafiki). By 2025 it positioned itself as the dominant B2B infrastructure layer connecting community finance institutions to formal banking capital — targeting bank-led embedded lending partnerships as its primary growth vector.
