Caseware started in 1988 as a desktop working-papers tool for auditors and spent 30+ years becoming a global standard in audit and financial reporting software, sold largely via a distributor network across 130 countries. Since ~2012 it has been rebuilding the product as Caseware Cloud, and after Hg Capital's 2020 investment the strategy accelerated toward a unified cloud+AI platform. The 2026 launch of Caseware Verity — governed, agentic AI 'inside the engagement' — reframes the company from an audit-software vendor into an AI platform for the assurance profession, with an emphasis on integrations/APIs rather than embedded finance.
