AvidXchange was founded in 2000 as an AP automation and payment network for US mid-market businesses, building one of the largest B2B payment networks in the country. After going public in 2021, the company expanded into cross-border payments via Wise Platform and deepened ERP integrations across 240+ accounting systems. Following a PE-led take-private in 2024, AvidXchange pivoted toward an embedded finance infrastructure model—Accounts Payable as a Service—offering its AP and payments engine as white-label infrastructure for ERP and vertical SaaS platforms, moving from end-user SaaS toward becoming a B2B embedded payments platform.
