The story

VR started in 1977 as one of Brazil's incumbent meal-voucher (VR/VA) issuers alongside Sodexo, Alelo and Ticket. Acquired by Sodexo in 2008, it has since expanded from closed-loop benefit cards into a broader employee financial platform: PIX direct participant since 2020, own bank charter (Banco VR S.A.), payroll-deducted lending (Crédito do Trabalhador, FGTS anticipation), consortium, phone insurance, and HR SaaS through the 2024 Pontomais incorporation. The strategic shift is from meal-voucher issuer to full ecosystem: benefits + RH Digital + soluções financeiras for 4.7M workers.
