“Can a lab-management SaaS become the dominant procurement and trade-credit rail for life-sciences R&D spend?”
Quartzy began as a free lab-inventory/order-tracking SaaS for academic labs. By 2018 it pivoted into a two-sided marketplace (Quartzy Shop) that monetizes the transaction rather than the software seat. It now blends vertical SaaS (inventory, requests, punchout, accounting integrations) with a distribution/marketplace business — extending trade credit to labs on large orders (with Nuvo-based KYB/underwriting) is the natural embedded-finance layer on top of that marketplace.
