“Can a Francophone West African payment aggregator become the default digital payments infrastructure layer for businesses operating across the UEMOA region?”
Founded in 2015 after its founders experienced first-hand the exclusion of Africans without bank cards from online commerce, PayDunya built a mobile-money-first payment aggregator for Francophone West Africa. The platform expanded across six UEMOA countries serving 4,000+ B2B clients with payment collection, bulk disbursements, and an e-commerce storefront product. In April 2025, PayDunya was acquired by South African paytech Peach Payments, becoming its entry vehicle into the Francophone African market and its third acquisition since a $31M Series A in 2023.
