“Can a licensed payment institution become the default rail for corporate tax settlement in Brazil?”
Pag Útil emerged in 2019 out of the Flux-IT consultancy (started 2012) as a B2B corporate digital wallet — 'Banco Útil' — purpose-built to automate the payment of Brazilian tax forms (GNRE, DIFAL, DARF, DUA), boletos, and judicial guides. Rather than compete with neobanks, it went vertical: a payment institution licensed by Banco Central that plugs into corporate ERPs and settles tributary obligations 24x7 with immediate bank receipts. In 2025 it was acquired by the Norwegian ERP group Visma alongside Dootax, positioning it as the payment rail beneath a broader tax-tech automation platform ahead of Brazil's tax reform.
