The story

Onfido was founded in 2012 as an AI-driven identity verification vendor, pairing document capture with facial biometrics and liveness for KYC/AML onboarding. It scaled into financial services, digital banks and crypto (Tesco Bank, Simplex, etc.) as a pure identity-infrastructure provider. In April 2024 it was acquired by Entrust for ~$650M and rebranded as Entrust's Identity Verification platform — its SDKs, Studio workflows and Atlas AI now sit inside Entrust's broader trust-services stack.
