“Can a small Finnish B2B SaaS become the default operating system for civil-society associations by automating the routine admin — registry, billing, and communications — of volunteer-run organizations?”
Membook is a Finnish B2B SaaS successor to the legacy Nekkari association membership registry (originally developed by Oy Bitti Ab / Netorek Oy from 2005). Founded in 2014 by Tiina Vainio and Timo Kero, it launched in 2016 as a broader platform for association administration — membership registry, member billing, and communications — rather than just a registry. Development is outsourced to Nemit Oy and hosting to Netorek Oy under a network operating model. Embedded finance is limited to Finnish reference-payment (viitesiirto) reconciliation of membership invoices and weekly settlement to the association's own bank account, with accounting sync to Procountor.
