The story

Fair was founded in Houston by Khalid Parekh (previously of AMSYS Group) as a multilingual neobank targeting immigrants and underserved minority communities in the US. It raised $20M in 40 days in early 2021, primarily from immigrant and minority retail investors rather than institutional VCs, and launched to the public in May 2021. Note: there are multiple unrelated companies named 'Fair' — including a Santa Monica-based vehicle leasing platform (acquired by Shift) and Fair.xyz (a Web3 platform) — which do not share stack ancestry with the Houston-based Fair neobank.
