The story

2Checkout began in 2006 as an online payment processor, was acquired by/merged with Avangate in 2017 to become a merchant-of-record commerce platform for digital goods and SaaS, and was acquired by Verifone in 2020. It now operates two parallel business models under the Verifone Payments umbrella: MoR (Verifone Payments B.V. / Avangate Inc.) where 2Checkout is the seller of record and handles tax remittance globally, and PSP (2Checkout.com Inc.) where the merchant remains seller of record and handles their own tax.
