“Can a Luxembourg-licensed EMI become the financial operating system for European SMEs by combining neobank accounts, embedded lending, AI-powered tax/bookkeeping, and open-banking integrations in a single app?”
Vivid Money launched in 2020 as a consumer neobank riding on Solarisbank's BaaS infrastructure, competing in the crowded European challenger bank space with cashback-heavy Visa cards and integrated investing. It obtained its own Luxembourg EMI licence (Vivid Money S.A.) and pivoted heavily toward SMB/freelancer banking from 2023 onward, building out business accounts, invoicing, tax filing, and cash management as primary differentiators. By 2025, Vivid had repositioned as an all-in-one financial OS for European SMEs — embedding lending (Banxware, finmid), multi-currency IBAN infrastructure (Banking Circle for vIBANs), open-banking-powered accounting integrations (finAPI), and AI-driven bookkeeping and tax tools.
