The story

Founded in January 2022 as a discretionary investment management app targeting mass-affluent UK millennials (£80k–£200k salaries), Sidekick positioned itself between entry-level robo-advisers and full-service private banks. The company initially used Currencycloud for e-wallet infrastructure and DriveWealth for custody/execution. In 2024 it expanded beyond pure investment management into lending with a Portfolio Line of Credit product. By early 2026 it upgraded its wallet infrastructure to Griffin's embedded bank accounts, gaining FSCS protection and interest on uninvested cash — moving decisively toward becoming a full-stack private wealth platform.
