The story

Saleor started as an open-source Python/Django e-commerce project inside a Polish agency (Mirumee) around 2013, spun out as an independent company in 2020, and evolved into a headless, GraphQL-first, API-native commerce platform. The company monetizes via Saleor Cloud (SaaS) while keeping the core open-source. In 2024-2026 Saleor leaned hard into 'composable' and 'AI-ready' commerce, launching agentic-commerce integrations (ChatGPT Instant Checkout) and positioning as an alternative to Shopify/CommerceTools for engineering-led merchants.
