The story

PromptPay is Thailand's national real-time payment rail, operated under the Bank of Thailand's regulatory framework and adopted by participating Thai banks. It functions as payment infrastructure—a QR-code-based interbank transfer system—rather than a standalone commercial fintech company. Over time, it has been integrated by global payment processors (Stripe, Adyen, Rapyd) as a local payment method, expanding its reach to international e-commerce and platform use cases.
