The story

Originally founded in 2019 as Abeg Technologies, a P2P social payments app that gained traction as sponsor of Big Brother Naija. Acquired by PiggyVest (Piggytech Global Limited) and rebranded as PocketApp, positioning as a social commerce and payments platform for the Nigerian market. In 2025, PiggyVest began bringing PocketApp's payment infrastructure in-house — launching virtual account numbers directly rather than relying entirely on third-party BaaS partners.
