The story

PayProp was founded in South Africa in 2004 to solve the peculiar problem of trust-account bookkeeping for letting agents: it plugged directly into the banking system (initially Absa in ZA, later NatWest in UK) rather than acting as a payments company itself. It expanded internationally through the 2010s and, after Accel-KKR took a growth stake in 2022, was merged in 2023 with Reapit — AKKR's estate-agent CRM — to form a combined UK/Ireland/SA property-tech group. The strategic question is whether the merged Reapit+PayProp entity can become the operating and financial system for residential letting agents globally.
