Numeral (legal entity: Numeral Two, Inc.) was founded by ecommerce operators who experienced sales tax pain firsthand, and built an end-to-end sales tax compliance platform targeting ecommerce and SaaS businesses. The company started with US state sales tax automation and expanded to global VAT/GST coverage in 70+ countries, positioning itself as the compliance layer between merchants' billing systems and state/global tax authorities. The embedded finance angle is minimal — Numeral IS the compliance infrastructure for others, not a buyer of embedded finance tools itself, aside from using Brex for internal spend management.
