Can an established association management software win by embedding the full member-facing financial workflow — dues, events, non-dues revenue — without owning the payments rail?

The story

Founded 1998 as an association management software (AMS) provider for small-staff associations. Expanded through acquisitions (ePly 2017, Weblink 2017) into event registration and chamber management. Acquired by Momentive Software in 2020, which consolidated a portfolio of association-tech brands (WildApricot, A2Z Events, Personify). Today operates two AMS products — MC Professional and MC Trade — with embedded finance limited to payment acceptance for dues/events; financial capabilities are delivered via third-party gateways rather than a proprietary embedded finance stack.
