The story

Masterworks began as a platform allowing retail investors to buy fractional shares in blue-chip fine art, filing each artwork as a Reg A+ offering with the SEC. Over time it expanded internationally to over 130 countries and built out a secondary trading marketplace (Masterworks Wallet) and payout infrastructure. The FX challenge of serving international investors across 130+ countries drove a notable embedded finance move: integrating J.P. Morgan's FX API to automate currency conversion, eliminating the previously broken out-of-app checkout experience for non-USD investors.
