Can a UK SMB accounting SaaS become the financial operations hub for small businesses by embedding payments, open banking, and lending directly into the bookkeeping workflow?

The story

KashFlow started as a standalone cloud accounting product aimed at UK small businesses seeking a simpler alternative to desktop software. Following acquisition by IRIS Software Group, it became part of a broader suite of accounting, payroll, and HR tools. The platform expanded its embedded finance integrations — including GoCardless for direct debit, Worldpay and Stripe for card payments, and Yapily for open banking bank feeds — positioning it as a connected bookkeeping hub rather than a standalone ledger.
