Can a purpose-built AI document-fraud detector own the layer between bank-connectivity APIs and lending decisions as generative AI makes forgeries indistinguishable to humans?

The story

Founded in 2017 out of the Burke brothers' frustration with manual bank-statement review at an Irish bank. Started as an OCR + rules-based fraud detector for bank statements and paystubs, then pivoted with the generative-AI wave into an agentic document-fraud platform that reasons across entire loan applications. Positioning has narrowed to a wedge — 'the documents that move money in financial services' — and increasingly competes/complements bank-connectivity vendors (Plaid, Finicity, Yodlee) rather than replacing them.
