The story

Founded 1990 as a Nigerian commercial bank, GTBank grew into one of Nigeria's most valuable banks by market cap. In 2021 it reorganized into GTCO Plc, a holding company that could offer payments, pension management, and asset management beyond the core lending business — a structure required by CBN's 2010 rule prohibiting banks from running non-lending subsidiaries. The bank operates internationally with subsidiaries in the UK, Kenya, and across sub-Saharan Africa.
