The story
Founded in 2010 as a cloud Android POS startup, Clover was quickly acquired by First Data in 2012 and became its flagship merchant-facing platform. After Fiserv absorbed First Data in 2019, Clover evolved from a pure POS product into an embedded finance hub for SMBs — layering in merchant cash advances (Clover Capital), payroll integrations, sales tax automation, and biometric payments on top of its core acquiring infrastructure. Today it operates as Fiserv's SMB commerce OS, distributing financial products through its bank and ISO partner channel.
