The story
Carestream Dental spun out of Carestream Health in 2017 when CD&R and Hillhouse/CareCapital acquired the dental digital business from Onex, establishing it as an independent vertical-SaaS + hardware company for dental practices. Since then it has expanded from imaging hardware into practice-management software (SoftDent, PracticeWorks, OrthoTrac, WinOMS, Sensei Cloud) and now embeds payments into those workflows via Payment Manager (a Sensei product) powered by Global Payments and Clover. The 2024 GA Credit recapitalization is funding the next stage of cloud/AI-enabled workflow build-out.
