“Can a vertical SaaS + marketplace own the entire booking, payments, and ancillary-revenue stack for the North American campground industry?”
Campspot started in 2015 as campground management SaaS (under RezPlot Systems) for park operators, then launched a consumer-facing marketplace in 2020 to aggregate inventory across the parks running its software. Today it operates a two-sided business: vertical SaaS for ~3,000 parks plus a consumer booking marketplace covering 230K+ sites. Embedded finance footprint is limited to payment acceptance (WorldPay, Fiserv/CardConnect, Stripe) and a weather-protection insurance partnership with Sensible Weather — no banking, lending, or card-issuing programs.
