Can a compliance-certified, PSD2-licensed Dutch accounting SaaS keep winning ZZP/MKB and accountancy firms by owning bank connections and payment reconciliation end-to-end?

The story

Asperion is a Dutch cloud-based accounting SaaS founded in 2004 in Naarden, targeting ZZP (freelancers), MKB (SMBs), DGA (director-shareholders) and accountancy/administration offices. Its embedded finance surface area is narrow but deliberate: it holds its own PSD2 AISP license from DNB for direct bank connections and layers a Ponto-based aggregator for pan-European coverage, and it integrates with Dutch PSPs (Mollie, Cardgate) to reconcile received payments back into the ledger. The company remains a small independent (~13 employees) rather than a venture-scale platform.
