The story

Anrok launched in 2020 as a US sales tax automation tool aimed at SaaS startups, riding the post-Wayfair explosion in state nexus obligations. Between 2022 and 2025 it expanded into global VAT/GST across 150+ countries, added HRIS integrations to detect remote-employee nexus, and repositioned as a 'unified compliance platform' rather than a point tool. The $55M Series C in 2025 funded the shift toward AI-native tax infrastructure (Anrok Intelligence, Anrok Atlas, headless tax APIs) targeting mid-market and enterprise customers switching off Avalara.
