The story

UKG was formed in 2020 from the merger of Ultimate Software (HCM/payroll) and Kronos (workforce management), creating one of the largest HR technology companies globally. The combined entity expanded from core payroll and time-and-attendance into embedded financial wellness through UKG Wallet (earned wage access via Payactiv), global payroll orchestration via UKG One View, and a marketplace of spend management, accounting, and retirement integrations. UKG's embedded finance strategy is additive — layering financial products on top of its payroll data moat rather than building a standalone fintech.
