The story

Uber Pro Card began in 2016 as a Green Dot–issued driver debit card but pivoted in 2022 to a Branch + Marqeta + Evolve Bank stack after a public partnership breakdown with Green Dot. The product is the financial-services layer of Uber's gig-worker loyalty program — converting driver payouts into instant cashouts, fuel cashback, and a banking primitive. Geographic expansion has used different BaaS partners per region: Branch/Evolve in the US, Payfare in Canada, and Griffin in the UK (2026), reflecting Uber's strategy of orchestrating local sponsor banks rather than holding licenses itself.
