The story

Founded in 2022, Tola set out to solve the cash-flow stress faced by US-based SMBs operating on manual, paper-check B2B payment rails. The platform combined accounts payable, accounts receivable, and working-capital financing in one tool, integrating natively with QuickBooks and Xero. Banking infrastructure was provided by Patriot Bank, N.A. under a fintech-as-a-service model — Tola explicitly disclaimed being a bank. The company was acquired by Block in 2025, positioning the product to potentially merge into Block's broader SMB financial-services ecosystem.
