The story

Founded in 2016 as an e-payment solutions provider, Thawani launched its first mobile wallet app in 2018 and secured Oman's first non-bank fintech PSP license in 2020. Over time, the company expanded beyond payments into a super-app covering prepaid and credit cards (via Visa), installment lending (via National Finance), international remittances, insurance, bill payments, and a loyalty program. By 2025–2026, Thawani positioned itself as Oman's first non-banking fintech super-app, explicitly pursuing embedded finance expansion including microfinancing, corporate cards, and institutional partnerships.
