Showpass

Can a Calgary-built, mid-market event-ops platform out-integrate Ticketmaster and Eventbrite by owning the full organizer workflow end-to-end?

The story

Showpass began in 2014 as an event ticketing platform for the Canadian mid-market and has steadily expanded into an end-to-end event operations system — box office, access control, memberships, season passes, and discovery distribution via Showpass Connect. Its embedded-finance footprint is intentionally light: it acts as merchant of record by default (charging organizers 2.9% + $0.30 via its own transaction processor), but increasingly supports organizer-BYO payment processors and bolt-on financial features like Affirm BNPL and Teak Refund Protection. The strategic question is whether Showpass can challenge ticketing giants by being the most integrated mid-market platform rather than by owning more financial primitives.
