The story

Republic Bank & Trust started as a traditional Kentucky community bank in the 1980s and grew through the 1990s via mergers into a NASDAQ-listed regional institution. Beyond its ~47-branch retail footprint, Republic built a national fintech-facing business — the Republic Processing Group (RPG) — which sponsors tax refund products, prepaid/payment programs, and fintech lending (Republic Credit Solutions), making it one of the recognizable sponsor banks in US embedded finance. This dual model of community bank + sponsor bank is the strategic identity today.
