REA Card GmbH

“Can a German POS-terminal provider become the embedded financial OS for small brick-and-mortar merchants by layering lending, insurance, and accounting tools on top of card-payment data?”

The story

REA Card GmbH originated as the payment-technology arm of the broader REA Systeme family in Mühltal, Germany, building proprietary EC terminals, POS cash-register systems, and SoftPOS solutions for German SME retail and hospitality. Over time it layered embedded financial services on top of its POS footprint — first adding purchase-protection insurance (REA Kaufschutz) bundled with card transactions, then adding a DATEV accounting bridge for merchants' tax workflow. In 2026 it deepened its financial-services stack by partnering with YouLend to embed revenue-based lending directly into its terminal platform, positioning itself as a full payment + capital solution for small German merchants who are underserved by traditional bank credit.
