The story

PagBank started life in 2006 as PagSeguro, a payments checkout for Brazilian e-commerce inside the UOL Group. It expanded into in-person acquiring with 'Moderninha' POS devices, then IPO'd on NYSE in 2018 as PagSeguro Digital. The strategic pivot came with the PagBank rebrand — layering a full digital bank (via wholly-owned BancoSeguro S.A.) on top of the merchant-acquiring base, cross-selling credit, cards, insurance and investments to MSMBs. Today it positions as 'Greater than Payments, Greater than Banking' — an integrated payments + banking + credit platform for Brazilian consumers and merchants.
