The story

Okta is the leading independent identity provider, founded 2009 and IPO'd 2017. The 2021 Auth0 acquisition expanded it from workforce IAM into customer identity (CIAM). Okta itself is not an embedded finance company — it sells identity infrastructure that financial services firms (banks, fintechs, open-banking participants) use to secure their APIs and authentication flows. Its only embedded-finance-adjacent products are partnerships (Plaid for open finance OAuth) and integrations (Capchase Pay accepts Okta invoices upfront).
