The story

Namely was founded in 2012 as a 'social-media-easy' HRIS for mid-sized companies, then expanded into payroll (2014) and became a licensed benefits broker (2015) to become an all-in-one HCM. After growth challenges in the late 2010s, it added Managed Payroll and Managed Benefits (2020) to compete with PEOs. In September 2022 Namely was acquired/merged into Vensure Employer Services and PrismHR — the largest US PEO group — repositioning Namely as the HCM front-end for a PEO-scale back office rather than a standalone SaaS.
