“Can MoneyLion become the financial OS for underserved US consumers — combining banking, lending, marketplace discovery, and now identity protection — as the embedded finance layer inside Gen's cybersecurity ecosystem?”
Founded in 2013 as PredictLion, MoneyLion pivoted to a full-stack consumer fintech offering mobile banking (RoarMoney), personal loans, credit builder, and investment accounts for underserved US consumers. It went public via SPAC in 2021 and simultaneously expanded upmarket by acquiring Even Financial to build Engine by MoneyLion, an embedded financial product marketplace (B2B SaaS) allowing publishers and banks to embed loan, card, and insurance marketplaces. In 2024, Gen (the cybersecurity conglomerate behind Norton and LifeLock) acquired MoneyLion for ~$1.05B, integrating it as the financial wellness layer of Gen's consumer identity protection stack.
