The story

Founded as a bill-discounting NBFC in 1985, Kotak transformed into India's fourth-largest private sector bank after receiving its banking licence in 2003. Growth was accelerated by the acquisition of ING Vysya Bank in 2014. Over the last decade Kotak has built a significant embedded finance infrastructure play — launching Kotak811 for digital-first customers, an open-banking API platform for partner fintechs, and Kotak Fyn for corporate trade. The appointment of a new CEO in 2024 signals an intensified push toward API-led distribution and embedded banking partnerships.
